United Sports Club appoint Subrata Bhattacharya as Technical Director

Only a day after appointing Ananta Kumar Ghosh as their head coach, United Sports Club have now roped in the experienced Subrata Bhattacharya as the Technical Director of the team in a deal that ends after the next season. Subrata, who had won the National Football League twice with Mohun Bagan, comes back into the reckoning once again after a gap of almost 20 months.
Nabab Bhattacharya, the United Sports official, sounded jubiliant after reaching the agreement.
"We have appointed Bablu da (Subarata) for the next season as well. He will co-ordinate with Ananta Kumar Ghosh. Practice under the duo starts from Monday," he told Goal.
"We had gone to visit him and he was more than ready to take the charge. He stressed that United is a Bengali club and everybody has to play his part in keeping the club alive. We are very happy to get him back. He brings with himself lots of I-League experience and that's what counts for us," Nabab added.
The official also informed that Subrata will not be taking any renumeration from the cash strapped outfit.
"When we asked him about it, he readily insisted that he would be working for free. He refused to take anything in a situation when the players are not getting their wages paid," he told.
Eelco Schattorie, the former coach of the side sounded surprised over the 15-month deal, but wished the team best of luck.
"I don't know who this person is and I sincerely hope all will be okay. That's (the length of the deal) a surprise. On the other hand, it seems that they cannot get sponsor and so cannot pay my salary. Any way, I wish them the best," he told Goal from Oman making it clear that chances are little for him to be back at the helm of the club next season.
The Purple Brigade will resume their I-League journey on 19th February against Mumbai FC, in what will be their first match after the departure of the likes of Ranti Matins, C.K.Vineeth and Eelco Schattorie.
